LEAP Bridge V8i (SELECTseries 6) Version 13.00.00.23

Within the Geometry tab I have modeled a two unit bridge, the first unit having three spans and the second unit having four spans.  Is it possible to model the support located between the two units as a pier opposed to two abutments?

I've had to choose the Prestressed Girder option even though I am designing the substructure for Steel Plate Curved Girders.  Why is steel not an option?  Is it solely because Bentley doesn't have a package that designs steel girders?

  • Yes, it is possible to model a two unit bridge. You will need to make modifications within the GEOMATH module. You could start with ABC Wizard, and define all the spans in the two unit bridge. Then go to GEOMATH, and delete the bridge and add two new bridges with a common support. LB is currently limited to concrete bridges. However, we are developing a new program for modeling, design and analysis of Steel Bridges, which should be out in a few more months.
