    How to use wet joints (closure pours) between concrete beams

    One of the new features introduced in the OpenBridge Modeler Update 7.3, v10.07.03.23 is an option to create a so-called wet joint. This tool allows the creation of a wet joint between the top flanges of the beams. Using the same technology the user can specify a diaphragm between two adjacent beams.

    Some input is required from the user in order to correctly use this new feature, as follows:

    - only the custom beams can be used for this new feature; the feature doesn't work with beam sections form LEAP library;

    - user must edit the beam section and specify the wet joint key points; the “Flange Top Right” and “Flange Bottom Right” entries define the start and end points to use when constructing the wet joint from beam flange to beam flange. Any points encountered between these two points are also used. If the “Diaphragm Bottom Right” is also defined, and the neighboring beam template also has all three points defined, all points between the “Flange Top Right” and “Diaphragm Bottom Right” are used to construct the wet joint. The three definitions for the flange top and bottom left and diaphragm bottom left, follow the same logic

    - the templates used MUST have the same number of points; it is highly recommended to start the creation of the template from the same point (WP) and in the same direction (clockwise/anticlockwise);

    - for the first time, the beams are created without the wet joints; after the beams are created, the user must select them and from the Beam Group Properties set the Construct Wet Joints option to True; once the wet joints have been constructed you will notice another property “Wet Joint Ends Normal” is added to the beam group properties; il
