Tables and Formulas together with Parts and Variables are a powerful parametric modeling tool in RM Bridge CONNECT Edition: to efficiently model different Cross-Section and Elements shapes. They allow for modifying Elements by changing their Cross-Sections properties. Variables can be applied internally and externally to the Cross Sections to create various Elements shapes. Multiple Parts are possible in the same Cross Section and this enables the creation of very robust models with all the freedom necessary to model several shapes and any bridge type.
Three easy steps are necessary to add & assign, define the variation rules, and apply a Variable:
1. Definition of Variables and assignment to Construction Lines inside CrossSections
2. Definition of Formula, or Tables, or Shapes in „Formulas and Tables“
3. Assign the defined formula in the variable assignment of the Segment point list to the respective variable of the Cross-Section or define expression directly in the variable assignment of the Segment point list:
More information, with a step-by-step example, can be found in the link below, and the respective FAQ document that is part of the RM Bridge CONNECT Edition V11 installation. There, an example is provided for a transversally V-Shape Inclined Pier in the V-Shape Inclined Pier.tcl & V-Shape Inclined Pier-gp.tcl files where the Tables and Variables are created and assigned.
