BIM Workflow
This is how the BIM workflow works:
User starts BIM Workflow by creating a project and associating a OBM design file to the model. You can add the design file by either:
Clicking on the Bridge Wizard and creating a new file,
Using the "Browse" button in the modeling tab and selecting the OBM design file:
By launching OBM and opening an existing OBM design file within OBM, or creating a new file.
At this stage the Modeling tab is enabled, however Analysis tab is locked:
The Analysis tab gets unlocked once you use the "Send To" button under Utilities tab to send the model to any of the analytical products. Once the model is sent to appropriate component and the file is saved the Analytics tab will get enabled:
Once the connection is established between OBM model and analytical component file:
Data exchange is unidirectional from OBM to analytics (with the exception of reinforcement data can be sent from analytics to OBM)
Any geometrical or physical modification made in the OBM model will get reflected in the analytical component when OBM file is closed in real time. If the user opens the analytical component the changes made in OBM are there in the model.
If you continue to work in the OBM file you can push the updates to the analytical model by clicking on "Update Analytics"
The modifications made to OBM model get categorized as minor or major changes when the analytical component files get updated. Based on the categorization, some actions are taken regarding the analytical information previously input.
Analytical components in BIM workflow are designed only for analytical purposes. Any geometrical modification to the bridge model must be made in OBM to be reflected in the analytical file. This workflow ensures the real BIM behavior and centralized data or single source of truth approaches by preventing discrepancies in the geometry of physical model and analytical model.
