    Introduction

Welcome to LARS® Bridge, the latest bridge geometry, superstructure analysis, and rating software solution from Bentley.

    About LARSBridge CONNECT Edition

LARSBridge is a comprehensive software program that is used to model, analyze and rate different types of bridges.

LARSBridge software can display the bridge geometry in 3-D, generate dimensioned 2-D views, and allow the user to examine various aspects of the bridge and obtain technical engineering reports in PRNX (Dev Express) format.

The following highlights some of LARSBridge main features:

    • Rating of Steel, Concrete, Timber bridges using AASHTO LRFD 8th Edition, AASHTO Standard Specifications for ASD and LFD.
    • Rating of full Girder Floorbeam and Stringer (GFS) bridges.
    • Reduce input time by using the built-in predefined libraries of material types, appurtenances and live loads with the ability to modify/add custom libraries.
    • Select AASHTO design moving loads from a predefined vehicle library (Design Truck, Design Tandem, Design Lane, Double Truck, Double Tandem, etc.) or define unlimited new loads.
    • Define / import / store roadway elements-alignments, profiles, cross section.
    • Define deck slab properties.
    • Define members as plate girders/built up sections composed of web, flanges and cover plates or using standard rolled shapes.
    • Select standard rolled shapes from a standard section library.
    • Ability to specify pier/abutment locations along the roadway.
    • Ability to define X, V and inverted-V cross frames and/or diaphragms, with various tools to locate them on the bridge superstructure for Multi-girder steel bridges.
    • Ability to define various types of stiffeners and to locate them on the bridge superstructure. The types can be a cross-frame/diaphragm connection plate, transverse shear stiffener and bearing stiffener.
    • The LARSBridge database may contain more than one bridge, with the ability to select the active bridge to be worked on. Multiple bridges can be shown on the main 3D bridge view.
    • Specify shear connector range.
    • Define and locate bridge deck appurtenances such as parapets, medians, sidewalks and railings. Appurtenances are stored and managed in the Appurtenance Library. Automatic computation of DC2 loads from appurtenances.
    • Pre-defined material library including concrete, steel, reinforcing steel, timber.
    • Ability to model advanced timber bridges using various type of timber materials including glulam, and tension reinforced glulam.
    • Pre-defined beam section library for the prestressed concrete girders, and tendon library for the strand definition.
    • Ability to control support condition definition.
    • View all automatically generated points of interest along each member and add additional user defined (or custom) point of interests.
    • Ability to add dead and live load cases to the bridge.
    • Ability to add project vehicles in the model or in the bridge database.
    • Provide rating for all defined rating combinations.
    • View results of input data, analysis, design check and rating in graphical and report form.
    • Support Design, Legal and Permit load rating combinations and Inventory and Operating as load rating combinations.
    • Multiple vehicles can be added in the rating combinations. Simultaneous load rating for multiple vehicles.
    • Ability to export all geometric models directly and accurately to intelligent MicroStation DGN file format. Will be available in 2021
    • Import linear elements from MicroStation for use as alignments or beam lines. Will be available in 2021
