    Balanced Cantilever Bridge - BCB

    The fourth option in the RM Bridge Enterprise Training Examples, 4. Balanced Cantilever Bridge - BCB has the datasets and an explanatory document for both a. AASTHO &  b.JTG  modeling, analysis and design of a complete basic 3 span BCB reference project. It can be accessed at File\Examples\Training Examples by selecting 04.a or b Bal. Cantilever as shown below.

    Either only the Modeler part or the complete project with Modeler and Analyzer datasets can be uploaded, as shown below. When we call it a basic BCB design it means the tendons are distributed accordingly to the construction stages, considering the phases of the advanced shoring, as can be seen in the screenshot below. Therefore, the next step is top create a final design, with tendons distributed in space, i.e., in the cross-section, by using the CantileverTool.

    The following items are briefly described in this introduction:

    • Defining the structural model, with detailed support conditions;
    • Defining loads: Wind, settlement, earthquake;
    • Defining temperature and Temperature gradient as per AASTHO;
    • Defining a traffic loading case, with detail traffic load due AASHTO;
    • Defining loads and a construction schedule (9 construction stages;
    • Calculating the results;
    • Viewing the results;
    • Normal stress check;
    • Ultimate load check;
    • Shear capacity check;
    • Working with TCL.
