    Earthquake - Response Spectrum

    The option 5. in the RM Bridge Enterprise Training Examples is the Earthquake that has the datasets and a description document for the seismic analysis of a three span bridge using the response spectrum analysis with all necessary steps as listed below.

    The following items are briefly described in the training document:

    • Definition of masses of all permanent loads - i.e. self weight & superimposed dead load;
    • Calculation of the eigenvalues, the low natural frequencies; 
    • Preparation of the response spectrum;
    • Definition of the earthquake load;
    • Evaluation of response spectrum for earthquake analysis;
    • Superposition of the seismic loads;
    • Result presentation.

    Dynamic analysis can be achieved with the addition of some simple steps. It's important to notice that the number of necessary modes that contribute to a certain structure could be evaluated for each Global principal direction X, Y, and Z, by the Sum of the Mass Participation Factors listed in the results.
