Load Case & Envelope or Combination

In RM Bridge the standard design processes begin with preparing a structural model, defining the loads, and the construction schedule for the erection stages. Then, two result types of the computer mathematical model analysis are of main interest:

Based on any of these results, the design criteria can be checked for either an LCase or a Comb.

For new users, it is necessary to understand that a Load Case has only the directly assigned loadings, it is defined at the Load Case Definitions, can have a constant application factor or a variable factor, and could have multiple Load Sets and, or Load Types. Although, an Envelope or Combination can have not only totally diverse Load Cases, but also different application rules and combination factors according to the Load Management, the Load Combinations, and the Actions performed in the Schedule.

A Load Case can have:

Another aspect to be considered is the time, as the construction schedule can affect a Load Case. Load Cases by type or by Schedule are commonly created to clearly understand the structure, and usually, a Summation Load Case is also created.

In the Schedule Actions, LcInit and LcAddLc are Actions that can manipulated Load Cases when the user decides not to use only the automatic Load Management.
