Model a riveted plate girder in LARS Bridge
Riveted plated girders are generally made up of angles, a web plate and coverplates. Model a riveted plate girder in LARS Bridge by using the technique listed below:
1) Input the horizontal legs of the top angles as the top coverplate
2) Input the vertical legs of the top angles as the top flange
3) Input the web plate. The vertical length of the web plate should be the “clear” distance between the angles, which will be modeled by LARS as the unsupported length of the web for shear computations.
4) Input the vertical legs of the bottom angles as the bottom flange
5) Input the vertical legs of the bottom angles as the bottom coverplate
6) Add any additional top or bottom coverplates to the section
