QUESTION: How to model Integral Abutment with Fixed End Support Condition?

ANSWER:

Please follow this procedure to model Integral Abutment with Fixed End Support Condition.

• The 3D model looks like the girders are integrated with the Abutment (Integral Abutment).
• The program is not allowing the user to assign any Support conditions or Type.
• There is no option to change the Support Condition.
• When the user Runs the FEM Analysis the program shows error message.
• Message: “Engine: Deck Analysis error”.
• The workaround solution for this issue is to input the Bearing Pad Dimensions.
• Then input the seat Dimensions as 0.0 in.
• These modifications will allow the user to change the Support Condition or Type.
• Change the Support Condition to FIXED and then run the FEM analysis.
• Now the user should be able to see the Fixed End Moments in the Analysis window.
