24. Wind Design Checks


RM Bridge inside OpenBridge Designer can perform Wind Design Checks. The four wind checks are part of a simple Demo example of very complex wind dynamics subjects:

For Torsional Divergence the model Cross Section is considered as it rotates against a torsional spring. Then, there is a linear aerodynamic twisting moment and at a certain critical velocity, there will be no possible equilibrium of the aerodynamic moment and reactive moment of the cross-section.

For Galloping the Cross Section moves only vertically, the effective angle of attack varies on the cross-section creating a constant drag and a linear lift with two possible options: a positive damping or a positive and negative damping.
