    Multi-User Access

Currently, .obdx files are intended for single user usage. It is highly recommended to separate .obdx files including multiple projects/bridges by creating individual .obdx files and place them on shared network drive or ProjectWise.

The user must acknowledge that storing the .obdx file on a network shared drive may lead to database corruption if multiple users are accessing the .obdx file at the same time. For instance, User 1 is accessing the .obdx file (stored on network drive) and he works on an analytics model. User 2 opens the .obdx file and he works on the same analytics model. User 1 saves his work and saves the data. After some time, User 2 saves his work and saves the data. At this point, the database will contain only the information contained in the User 2 .obdx file and the work of User 1 will be overwritten by User 2.

NOTE – Because the shared network drive is not a managed drive, User 2 will not receive a message that another user has already opened the .obdx file that he tries to open.

The scenario presented above is not applicable to .obdx file stored on ProjectWise because when User 1 access the file, ProjectWise will lock the file as read only.
