QUESTION: Is there a way to input lateral loads on girders within the final condition of the bridge?

ANSWER:

There is no option in LBS to input lateral loads on girders within the final condition of the bridge.

User can input lateral loads as the ‘Deck Overhang Loads’, and this is applied during the Staged construction for when the deck is poured in Deck placement Sequence Dialog Box.

When we are computing flange lateral bending stress, we are using deck overhang moment and the moment produced by machine loading during construction and the flange lateral bending moment coming from the analysis. All of these moments are divided by flange section modulus along transverse direction (Sy), which is major axis for the flange though.
