When the OBM user needs to create the inspection openings at the bottom flange of a Concrete Box Bridge the procedure might need to be slightly different from what was mentioned in the previous wiki article.
Notes:
- It is easier to define a Depth rather than try to completely align your reference to a surface that has a variable slope longitudinally and transversely.
- You're working in 3 Dimensions; so, use the references End/Center Snap Points to create and move the cut reference elements carefully until you get used to the tridimensional workflow.
As shown in the OpenBridge Modeler screenshots below, follow the step-by-step instructions:
- Modify the Workflow to Modeling
- At Placement use the Place Block button to create a rectangle
- From Manipulate, use the Move button to get it to a position close enough to define the cut
- From the Modify Tab, at the Features Ribbon, select the option Cut Solid and use the settings Forward and Define Depth
- To cut only the bottom flange enter the value as depth distance according to what is necessary in your case
- Select the rectangle block as the Cutting profile and the Deck as the Surface to be cut
- Check on the screen the Target solids as well as the Direction and Depth
- Accept with a Data point
