Whats the best way to split a wall horizontally into separate parts?

AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries 5 (08.11.09.747)

I have created the exterior wall. We need to add brick soldier coursing. In addition the brick above and below the soldier coursing need to be different parts. I tried using the Cut Solids by Curves command and it deletes the portion that would be soldier coursing and does not split the wall into different parts. I know there is a break wall tool to break the wall vertically is there anything to break (split into independent segments) the wall horizontally so that we don’t have to redo the exterior of the wall.

  • Hi Eric,

I would suggest to create a new wall style using Compound Wall as basic. I have added a video demonstrating how easy it is to replace an existing wall style with the new created wall style.

  • Nasir has it spot on. You have two choices.

    1. Copy the wall twice and edit each to represent the brick below, the soldier course, and the brick above
    2. Create a compound wall and replace the original wall with the compound.

Note that as you add more complicated compound walls that you will have more editing and other things like the roof changes.

The Compound wall is the ideal approach as you can update easily.
