Edit Drawing Title Name

Read if you want a challenge.  I've spent enough time researching it and it is driving me crazy.

Does anyone know how to change the drawing name for a linked callout after it is placed?  I’m experimenting with the linked callouts and in particular the Drawing Title for the floor plan view.  In my BIM model (design model), I used the task Create Views > Floor Plan View command.  I activated the Create Dynamic View option.  After clicking in the view, I got the Create Dynamic View dialog box.

I understand that the name field here is critical.  At first, I set the name to FLOOR PLAN.  After clicking OK, the drawing view and sheet view are created.  Here comes the challenge.  The Sheet Name and Drawing Name both inherit the name "FLOOR PLAN".  I figured out how to change the sheet name by editing the model properties of the sheet model > Sheet Properties > Sheet Name item (A-401).  I cannot figure out how to change the drawing name from FLOOR PLAN to something like RESTROOM PLAN.

Good luck.

  • Mark:

Emilberger is actually incorrect, this can be changed after it is placed.

Simply right-press on the Drawing Title and choose the MicroStation Element Information (called Properites in Building Designer Beta 3).  It should be the bottom option from the context sensitive menu.  From that dialog expand the "General" grouping and under the property called "Name" you will be able to change your drawing title.

From this menu you can also change the scale of the drawing (which automatically updates the drawings reference scale and the drawing title scale indicator) and the drawing Identifier (the drawings number for that sheet).

    I hope this helps,

    Travis

  • Never thought to go to element info.  I went to the text editor and the edit field option to trace the link, but not the element information.  I'll check when I return to work on Monday.  I should have mentioned that I'm using BA V8i SS1... not sure of the build#.  Thanks or the reply.

  • I assumed that your production work was still in SS1, but verified in both ABD and BA SS1 before posting.

    Have a good weekend,

  • Travis, changing the "name" in the element properties worked for me as you stated.  Thanks again for the help.
