In this Coffee Corner, we will explore OpenBuildings Designer workflows and best practices for modeling and drawing production with Bentley’s Civil and Plant Solutions.

When working with civil files from OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer or OpenSite Designer, there are important considerations and workflows to be aware of in OpenBuildings Designer such as:

  • Delivered Seed Files
  • Design File Settings
  • Solids Working Area
  • Geo-Coordination with iTwin Referencing

OpenBuildings Designer Update 9 includes improved capabilities for project coordination and drawing documentation output from federated Building and referenced Plant models.  OpenBuildings Designer can reference an OpenPlant Modeler i.dgn or a native DGN to annotate intelligent components and display Piping center lines in drawings and models.  This Workflow utilizes OpenBuildings Designer’s powerful capabilities of drawing re-symbolization and the unification of walls, slabs, and concrete structures with Piping Models for improved drawing output.
