Aecosim BD SS5 Multiple Users, Single Model

Hi,

Just wanted to see if it is possible to have multiple people working in a single Aecosim design file?

Currently when i create section and plan views we extract them out to separate dgn files. However we see benefits in having all of the sections and plan extractions in a single dgn file with multiple models. the real benefit would come if we could have multiple people working on parts of that model, or even a single user ont he 3D model and another working on the sections and plans etc.

If this is not possible, does anyone have work around to this?

Thanks in advance

Stephen

  • For your workflow it is yes but I need to explain.

You will work in either a Design Model or the Drawing Models

If you need multiple people to work in ONE Design Model then NO.
However no Construciton should be one model but many referrened into a Master Design Model.
Thus people can work in different pieces of the model. just divide the model into pieces as needed.
Do note that parts will NO always unify across models so things like the exterior might be in one file by itself to avoid lines between materials

Now after you have created the Design Model you will create a series of Drawing Models.
These have a reference of the Master Design Model BV
Only one person can work on a Drawing Model at a time
You could divide that task to by combining common Drawing Models that are referenced into a Master Drawing Model. just a little more confusing.

So yes to multiple people as long as they are not doing exactly the same task like editing door numbers on the same floor.
