How to edit the Drawing Title Cell

I am in a drawing that I have placed a reference that places a drawing Title

I want to edit the look of that cell

I go to the annotation tools and it open a cell library with teh file I want to edit

I make changes

then open and place a drawing

Teh cell is the same old cell without a change.

Even though the utility takes me to a cell library it is the wrong version.

any help is appreciated.

  • If you open the annotation.cel library to the drawing title model and make your changes, then close it and exit AECOsim, when you re-open it and Place Drawing Title, it should show the modified annotation. You do need to exit and re-open the program to see any changes though. Normally, annotation.cel is in your dataset\cell folder. Be sure that this cell library and folder is included in the MS_CELL config variable.

  • I am in a drawing. It sends me to the annotation.cel file you mention
I make the change and then go to the tool to also change attributes like font.

I close and reopen. NO CHANGE. I must be working in the wrong file HOWEVER I am sent to that one by the program.

Also the one I edit. I want to remove the Bubble and replace with a square. If I delete the bubble it deletes the text. How do I correct this. It appears to say the text is a tag itself, but one I cannot find to add back in???

  • Eric,
I have never used this variable MS_DETAILINGSYMBOLSTYLE_REQUIREDSETTINGS
but it seems to allow you to define what are required parts of style.
Currently, If you leave try to leave a cell in a symbol style blank or it points to a cell that is no longer valid
you will get an error message.
I think defining this variable will overcome this issue.
Like I said, I have never defined it, but if you look it up in workspace>configuration there is some information about it.

  • First it was black but somehow taking the dgnlib from the US_Dataset
Then when defined it still took the same dgnlib
Then when I deleted the US_Dataset dgnlib with the copy I have with my name it works just fine.

I just wanted to say on the drawing title - instead of changing the color or line weight or style. LEAVE IT AS IT no symbology applied. Mine looks good as drawn but weak as changed. This should be a symbology override like others. with a "Leave alone" option first.

I am asking as this would seem logical as this is like pen-tables. It give you an excuse to draw it wrong and then correct it with a utility.

Similar to way old V8i annotation cells worked. A "Use Cell" option would be handy.

Since these new tools are developed as part of Microstation, it would better to pose this question in Microstation Community.
Someone might know how to do this already. Or possibility lead to an enhancement request.

    Just a thought.

  • I foudnthe issue. I cannot define a different library name or location.
As you must modify the DGNLIB and that cannot be redfined as it is hardcoded.

I had to rebuild our entire system and delete all folders as if I did not it would reinstall and still not work properly.
Therefore I lost all Bentley Datasets

For that reason I have my own Dataset appended to Bentley's I cannot do that with Mine

  • In the file DetailingSymbolStyles, when I open the Detailing Symbol Styles:

When I open the dropdown menu to select a cell I want to use, I see each cell name twice (lik 2 times the same list behind eachother). Any idea how this happened? Is there a way to track where these cells come from?
