ISM error

Installed current ISM.  In ABD version 08.11.09.747 Create ISM repository gives error:  unexpected result. cannot map wf10x45 to table???   how to setup?

  • Did you have the section file that contains that shape loaded when exporting the ISM? I don't know the error first-hand, but it looks like the type of message that would display when a process doesn't have access to the section details; e.g., name, dimensions, etc.

  • hi Steve, ABD was installed normally, default location etc. I open a delivered file like S_lowrise . If i try to add a column, no problem, all the wf sections are available in the place command. But, if i go to create ISM repository the message occurs. Must be some ISM setup that i am not familiar with.

Is there some other setup required for ISM? can you direct me?
  • Hmmm... It definitely should work as-is, and since I don't often use the Building_Sample project I just tried exporting the S_Steel-LoRise.DGN to ISM and encountered no issues.

Which dataset are you using? I'm not sure what a "WF" shape is, where in the delivered US dataset we include W and WT.

  • Hi Steve,   to give you more information:

i have tried with two different computers.  My win 7 laptop has the new ABD beta for SS6.  My Surface Pro with 8.1 has the current distributed ABD.  Both give the same error message.

I am just using everything out of the box.   open the file S_Steel-LoRise.dgn   from delivered examples.  User BuildingDesigner, Project BuildingSample_US.  When file opens, go immediately to Create ISM repository.  Export ...\BuildingSample_US\designs\S_Steel-loRise.ism.dgn  dialog appears nicely.  Click Export and all seems to be progressing nicely.  then get error message:  Unexpected Result.  Unable to create ISM repository.   so no file created.

I'm just trying to demonstrate Bentley's Integrated Structural Modeling technology.  I'll be at UCLA tomorrow with about 100 in attendance.

I can sort of fake it, but, wish i could actually show it.

anyway, thanks for trying to help,

    tom

  • Hi Tom,
Based on everything you've described, it sure seems like it should work! So, the next two steps I would suggest are:

    1. Try reinstalling ABD just to be sure all the pieces are properly in place

    2. Try installing the latest Structural Synchronizer from our downloads site - should be 08.11.11.150. While this shouldn't be necessary with ABD installed, perhaps there's still something missing.
