forgot to say, obviously if you right-click on the said BBES.REG and choose Edit, you'll get a list of the registry keys...

Actually, finally found what the problem was. For some reason the registry keys were not in the registry. In the bin folder, all I needed to do was to double click on the BBES.REG to create the relevant keys.

Checked the permissions thing from an earlier post, no joy. Launching BBES.exe directly: same result.

I haven't seen that type of error in quite some time, but I think it typically refers to some type of permissions issue. Can you double-check that you have read/write permissions to your workspace's \medata folder along with C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss5\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\ServerApp\bin?

Also, from that last folder, what happens if you manually double-click on BBES.EXE? That's the database server for ABD Electrical.
