Exporting Element Information into Excel

Hi Everyone,

I have a file which is modeled in Revit than converted to .dgn format.

And I want to export the element information from Properties of multiple items into an Excel sheet.

The file contains Pipes and Pipe fittings which are modeled in Cells and unfortunately DataGroup Explorer do not recognize these items and exporting the data from there is not applicable.

Is there any way to accomplish that? I'd appreciate the tips :)

PS. I'm using AECOsim Building Designer V8i (SELECTseries 4)

Thanks.

  • Since the pipes and fittings are Cells and do not have DataGroup properties on them, you can't open them in DataGroup Explorer to export them to Excel. Do these pipes and pipe fittings currently have any piping properties associated to them? If you want, you could use the Add Instance Data tool in the DataGroup tools to add DataGroup properties to them to identify them as pipes or elbows, etc. and then these properties can be exported to Excel.

As an alternate method, you could also publish the file as an I-model, which will retain any properties that the elements have embedded in them.

  • Thank you so much for your answer. First solution totally worked for me. After adding an instance data, the elements became visible in the DataGroup Explorer so now I'm able to export them into Excel. However, publishing an i-model didn't worked. Anyhow, I get what I wanted :) Many thanks.
