Multi-building Site

Hello all:

Currently, I'm using ABD SS5.  I've been working on drawing up, in 3D a medium size site that has a number of buildings on it.  Some of the buildings are connected, and some are independent.  Work on this project has spanned the past 15 years.  Yes, I've gone through a number of MS upgrades.

Is it possible to back fit BB-Floor Manager to these existing designs?

Thanks for the help.

  • I take one building and orient orthangonal on my sheet Ignoring the TRUE Global location or angle. It is to hard to work if the entier thing is crooked.

That model like each work off the same floor Model but with their own elevation information

Then Each is referenced into the proper location and orientation into the MASTER Model

I end up with a lot of buildings that are very easy to work in and at at time that orientation really does not matter

And I have a master model which can generate real site work and drawings.

FYI. I never ref a building into something like Google Earth but the Geo Mass Model of that singular building or the Mass Model of a Campus of Buildings

FYI for a Campus or single Buildings
Each Building has Design files or 3d models
They are compiled into a Mass Model that I create my drawings from (BV's)

Then these Mass model or a whole bunch of Mass Models are referenced into another Empty Design file. These are georeferenced. this is my Site Mass Model.

Then I can place any Site Mass Model into other Site Mass Model or something similar like Google Earth.

this lets me maintain my drafting environment

  • Since the models already exist without BB_Floor Manager, I would like to add Floor Manager to the model. Ideally have one common Floor Manager for all the buildings.
  • As long as the floor elevations defined in BB_FloorMaster.dgnlib align with the elevations of the existing elements, I'd imagine you'd be good to go. I don't think I've come across this type of situation before though - Floors being introduced to legacy data - so I'd be curious whether anyone else has done the same and if there were any potential pitfalls.
