I kept getting an error "Impossible Form Sweep" when trying to use the "Place Profile" with a custom user-defined cell. Also the preview of the profile would also be empty. After a lot of trial & error, I discovered that the fix was to re-create the cell by adding it to the cell library using the cell dialog "Create" tool. I had created the cell directly from the cell library file...creating the cell any other way such as making a copy of an existing cell model did not work...I have created cells this way for decades and I could not find any difference between creating it one way or another...I used the same graphics, put it in a 2D design model, same properties, etc...
It makes no sense why it would matter how the cell was created but I just wanted to hopefully save someone else the aggravation I had in case they receive this same error.

I believe you...I recreated new cells by making a new model and it worked this time...I brought back the model or cell I originally had trouble with for you to test...I have the a cell library with 2 cells, one works and one does not...They are the same graphics.
One other interesting thing I discovered...If you place the "badcell" manually in your 3D drawing and use the "Solid by Extrusion" tool on it, it will extrude, but then rotate the profile (cell) 90 degrees so that you can extrude it horizontally, it will not work and it seem to want to still extrude vertically...might be a clue?
