Hello,
First i will start with how i figured to draw cables in AECOsim building designer.
I draw with smart line arcs and line segments then i unite them with complex chain tool, after this step i draw a circle with my diameter and use the tool solid extrusion by path. It works great but i have some issues.
The main issue is that i have cables with 2 curves in the same plan (to be more precise i can will attach picture 1)
You can see that i have a curve by 2500mm radius from top to bottom, then another curve in the bottom plan again with 2500mm radius.
Here i have the cables that i cant do anymore:
How can i make those cables with those 2 curves by precise 2500mm radius on bottom plan and Bottom to top plan by exactly the same radius. (from the example in the picture 1)
Thank you,
Stefanita Pluteanu
In the second image he is showing the horizontal plan of the cables. He is asking about creating a 3D polyline/curve from the start as the extrusion of a form along the path of a complex chain creates a volume that doesn't have smooth edges, as a cable in real-life should have.
The red cable is an example of cable created by extruding a circle along the path of a complex chain.
The blue one under the red is a cable which was modified with the "fillet edge" command, although not very pretty.
I feel like I'm still not completely understanding... What you need is not something like this?
1. draw first arc segment.
2. reset
3. start new segment. snap to end of first segment
4. keyin RE and snap to the end of the arc to rotate Accudraw tangential.
5. keyin RX to rotate Accudraw about X-Axis
