Embedding a pdf into a published imodel

Is there any way to embed a pdf document into an imodel so that if the imodel is exported outside of projectwise the pdf document can still be opened?

There is a way using Bentley Navigator SS6 that the PDF can be attached once the i-model is published. Under Edit > Insert Object.

Please could you expand? I have an imodel created in ProjectWise which links to PDFs also held in ProjectWise. I have exported the imodel and PDFs to my desktop and opened in Navigator SS6. In Navigator I go to edit - insert object and select the PDF and insert. When I close the imodel and re-open it the file disappears, I assume this is because the imodel is read only?

Can you advise if this is the correct workflow? We are adding the PDFs initially in ProjectWise in AECOsim SS6 - at this point can we embed the PDFs in the models rather than link? Thanks in advance, Michael
