On my project, Designer decided to implement a workflow, where he models in Revit most of the architectural/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical work.
Designer needs to produce 2D DGN drawing as a deliverable, so the workflow suppose

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Good to see you were able to work it out!

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Team, thank you for trying to help. Solution is apparently in Revit-to-DWG export ( Autodesk was caring more about their own internal Revit-to- Autocad transfer procedure), and then- DWG-to-DGN- perfected-by-time process.
Revit-to-dwg is fully-featured processthat recognises shared and internal coordinates in Revit, as well have robust functionality to use "modifiers". THanks again

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Hi Denis,
It looks like MJAN has provided some good information!

Since I don't know Revit the information doesn't necessarily have much meaning for me, but I agree with his assessment that this isn't something to be handled from the Bentley side since the DGN is already created by that point. Or are you asking how to move the elements in those resulting DGN files after the fact and/or change the origin in reference to them?

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

MJAN, Thanks again for trying to figure out the way of dealing with the problem on the Revit side.
I myself coming from the Revit User community, rather than Bentley Microstation one. The suggested setup is pretty unique on an imposed requirements, as it requires sophisticated deliverable that is very Bentley-specific Civil use- to be produced out of Revit -a program, crafted for completely different purpose (ICI building construction). After trying for quite some time, ( and I guess my counterparts trying to figure it out themselves for quite some time now) - it is not possible to use native dgn export to produce different output, based on changed base point/survey point. I referred this question to Bentley specialists, hoping it can be figured out via coding. Thank you for your time !

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Forgot to mention that after unclipping and moving the Survey Point clip it again.

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Denis,

This is not a Revit Forum but I will try to explain.

1. Create a new file > Go to Site plan and select the Project Base Point (NOT Survey Point!)
2. Click on the number besides N/S, E/W and Elevation and set value as required
3. Now select Survey Point, unclip it, and move it to center of Project Base Point
4. In this file, reference your correct file (DGN, DWG, etc) and check if coordinates are correct
5. If everything is correct, go to Manage tab, Coordinates > Publish Coordinates

This should do the trick for you. Another tip, I would recommedn you to go to a Revit Forum regarding your export question as it has nothing to do with MicroStation.
Seems, that DGN export mechanism from revit recognizes only location of the INTERNAL Revit basepoint ( i.e. from the hard-coded location of elements in the Revit database, that always stay. Thank you for suggesting this try, though!

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

There is always a solution, you just need to find it.

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

Let me try to tinker with it, there might be a solution to the problem !

RE: Revit Views Export to Microstation retaining global origin offset

I think your designer doesn't really know how Revit actually works. In Revit you have a Survey Point and a Project Base Point, which are by default set to 0,0,0. The designer should set up a Site File which has the correct coordinates set (not going to explain how this is done, google it).
Every file (DWG, DGN, etc) created from the Site File will have the correct coordinates and will insert in exact location.
