most complete metric dataset

What is the metric dataset that contains the greatest number of walls, objects (BIM), seed files etc.?

  • Hi Arturo,
    That help document is now out of date and is not delivered with ABD SS6.
    In NM datasets up to SS6 we delivered two project templates, NM_Full and NM_Light. NM_Light was configured to ignore the files contained in 'extendedcontent', NM_Full to include them.
    IN SS6 we deliver one NM template, the files previously within 'extendedcontent' are now distributed to the appropriate main content folders. Unfortunaltely that change was not covered in the NM dataset delta document.

    The structural shapes available to the place beam tool are defined by the variable 'STRUCTURAL_SHAPES', as delivered this includes the following files located in:
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\projects\BuildingExamples\BuildingTemplate_NM\support\dataset\data\

    • ProjectShapes.xml
    • AU_Onesteel.xml
    • AU_Timber.xml
    • AU_Concrete.xml
    • AU_Capral.xml

    If you look in this folder you will see a number of files with clear regional names. The STRUCTURAL_SHAPES variable can be set at site or project level to specify the region shapes that are needed.

    The delivered definition for the NM dataset starts at line 124 of BuildingTemplate_NM.pcf:

    # STRUCTURAL_SHAPES: Specifies the xml file that contains the structural steel shape definitions
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES = AU_Onesteel.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES > AU_Timber.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES > AU_Concrete.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES > AU_Capral.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES < $(PROJ_DATASET)data/ProjectShapes.xml

    So for instance a Danish project could have the following:

      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES = Dansk Beton.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES > Dansk Staal.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES > Dansk Trae.xml
      STRUCTURAL_SHAPES < $(PROJ_DATASET)data/ProjectShapes.xml

    The HE sizes are listed in Dansk Staal.xml.
    ProjectShapes.xml can be used to store project specific shapes as described in Creating custom Structural Sections in AECOsim.

    Note that the STRUCTURAL_SHAPES < $(PROJ_DATASET)data/ProjectShapes.xml statement uses the prepend '<' operator so that the project shapes are read before the delivered shapes.

    Regards

    Marc

  • Hi Steve, thank you for your reply. I have the NM dataset but I cannot find some of the components, such as the steal beams HE- HEAA- HEA-HEB-HE. I realized that the "NM Dataset Contents Help" shows this:

    Instead, I only see this:

    As you can see, I have many less folders. Do you have any idea why it might be so?

  • If you're talking about pure numbers - something I've never personally attempted to measure - I think the ANZ dataset would probably include the most components overall, perhaps followed by the NM dataset.

    Was there something specific you were looking for?
