What is the differnce between Dataset_UK and Dataset_GB?

?Just looking in the software fulfilment centre, there are two releases dated 24th March:

AECOsim Building Designer V8i (UK) (English) 32-bit

AECOsim Building Designer V8i (GB) (English) 32-bit

There are also separate dataset downloads with UK & GB designations.

Having spent half an hour searching Bentley Communities and Googling, I cannot find anything describing the differences between the two.

Could someone explain the differences between the two so I can best decide which is most appropriate for my purposes?

  • Hi Thomas,
Dataset_GB is the original dataset for UK users, it uses Uniclass 1.4 classification and has been maintained through ABD SS3 to SS6. Our aim is to supersede Dataset_GB in the medium term with Dataset_UK.
With the advent of Uniclass 2015 we started development of a Uniclass 2015 compliant dataset. In this we intend to simplify the dataset content and naming where possible. Dataset_GB includes too many instances where Uniclass codes have been used in object naming, we are moving away from this by making classification codes an object property where we can (within the naming requirements of BS 1192). As Uniclass 2015 becomes increasingly stable Dataset_UK is incorporating published Uniclass 2015 tables.
