How to print in grayscale and monochrome

Hello,

I have a question regarding printing setting for a drawing.

I am trying to print a drawing just like this:

I tried making the background on a single level and color (level-1 and color 128), what is printed in grayscale in the example.

What is the interest in the drawing is the objects left in monochrome.

How do i make the setting to achieve the example ? Tried some setting in pen table but with no effect.

Thank you,

  • This is pretty typical
I am assuming the Background drawing is your real plan that is many weights and needs now to be wt=0, co=0 or gray
I assume the Background is a reference file

    Simple

    Ctrl-B
    Set override ON
    Set Transparency ON

Go to your reference manager and set the transparency of your background to 40% or as you see fit

Go to level manager and you select OVERRIDE from the top pulldown

Now select all levels in your ref file and set all wt=0 and CO=0

    Then plot as Grayscale

The background will be wt=0, co=0 and will be 40% transparent
Every time your background is updated or replaced on the harddrive - it will still work as all this is done in the Master Drawing and reflects what is seen. No changes have actually been made to the background file.

  • The easiest is to remap the color numbers to actual print colors in the pen table:
For example the color 128 you use for the background drawing remap it to grey.
Then the other levels (the interest of the drawing) you can remap the colors to black.

How did you try to add this to your pen table?

  • Another scenario is if overlaying on referenced files, the Reference dialog Settings menu > Adjust Colors can be used to control the colours of attachments, either by turning the saturation down to achieve greyscale or applying particular hues. This can be useful both during design or when printing (including to PDF) turn on 'Print Adjusted Colors' to send them to print.
These changes to the display of references are also stored in the active file.

  • The problem with a pentable it it is NEVER WYSISYG

Control reference files (background) with your level overrides to wt =0, co=grey, trans even at 50% if needed
Then your original drawings stays as you drew it.
Pentables only exist as Autocad could not draw by weight for many many years.

Now it can - so draw things right the first time, use parts to control and correct weights quickly
And use the power of presentation you have with reference files and level controls
