AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Dear All,

I am new to AECOsim Building Designer SS6, I am facing the same problem which was faced by two other users who posted and got the solution for it.

But in my case, changing text size to even unreadable didn't help. I can't select any floor using floor selector. Already gone through two threads available in this forum and tried everything possible.
Please help.

Hi MJAN, obviously this is a fairly open forum and constructive criticism is appreciated and taken for what it is, but going forward please refrain from insults or similar comments.  Thank you.

    Hi Steve,

I am not insulting here I am telling what I think. Insulting Bentley will not benefit me as I don't use Bentley as my main product. Sometimes discussing and admitting the negative side of a product can make the product great and not by ignoring it. Bentley has always come with "Please log a SR and we will link bla bla bla"but where are the changes??? I don't see improvement only extra tools being added, some removed without letting the users know. The tools being added don't really benefit the user as it might be a tool that you will use once.

I have been posting videos showing how easy it is to change something but Bentley doesn't reply by saying something like "that is what we should add as well or a good idea" nope, Bentley goes on ignore mode and doesn't answer. Whatever, not going to waste my time trying to explain how Bentley could become great.

  • I think this is a communication issue and a lack of understanding that this is NOT a floor tool but a oraganization tool for ACS.

You CANNOT select the floor through the floor tool. Selecting the level only changes what ACS is active. No More intelligence than that.

To build you plan properly I suggest your exterior walls be in one model, and each interior floor be in its own model.
THAN AND ONLY then can you see and work in one floor at a time and control what you see and what you don't. It actually works very well, without many shortcomings.

  • Eric,

I am aware of ACS Plane options available in AECOsim Building Designer and I am using the same in place of selecting the floor from the floor selector. But if there is a special tool available and even grid system is also attached with it and I can't use it then I think it can be reported in an open forum.
  • Just to be clear, reporting this in the forum is the correct thing to do, it's just that we are unable to reproduce the problem. Previous problems that have been reported relate to use of 4k/UHD screens and the scaling of text rather than the actual function.

Please can you open the Drawing Scale Dialog and dock it as described in: Annotation Scale and the Drawing Scale Dialog

When you double-click one of the floors in floor selector does the Active ACS actually change or not?

    Regards

    Marc

  • Kaushal - I am agreeing with you but also trying to explain what I understand you to say your problem is.
There is no tool in the floor selector to select and entire floor.
The floor you draw is either a part of the overall model or a stand alone model as I had suggested.
You would work on the floor from that "Activated" Model if you want to see everything else (and they should gray out if that option is selected)

This will also help simplify what you are working on in that you can go to just that file and be quicker as the model is smaller are without all the other ref's on.

This is a side comment so ignore if not needed but I can't tell from the picture how it was built.
I also noticed that in your first picture you combined 3d models with BV and Annotations.
For good Practice make sure the Annotated BV's are only references from a DRAWING FILE. If not you will have issues where things don't show and will be partially hidden or totally hidden.

Things referenced together are great however
3d need to stay in 3d
BV's need to be ref into a Drawing (a 2d DRAWING MODEL not a DESIGN MODEL)
