AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Dear All,

I am new to AECOsim Building Designer SS6, I am facing the same problem which was faced by two other users who posted and got the solution for it.

But in my case, changing text size to even unreadable didn't help. I can't select any floor using floor selector. Already gone through two threads available in this forum and tried everything possible.
Please help.

  • Hi Kaushal,

I see you are in SELECTseries 6.

The Floor Selector window changed in SELECTseries 6.

I'm wondering if the project was set up in an earlier version. If so the project's  floor master dgnlib needs to have a DataGroup upgrade applied to it..

Here is an "Under the Bonnet" wiki article that explains the procedure.

    See if that helps.

  • Dear Paul,

You are right the project was setup in SS5. I followed wiki and tried to upgrade FloorManager.dgnlib but it didn't help.
I also setup a new project using SS6 design seed but again the problem persists.

    Please sir I need help.
  • Kaushal - I am agreeing with you but also trying to explain what I understand you to say your problem is.
There is no tool in the floor selector to select and entire floor.
The floor you draw is either a part of the overall model or a stand alone model as I had suggested.
You would work on the floor from that "Activated" Model if you want to see everything else (and they should gray out if that option is selected)

This will also help simplify what you are working on in that you can go to just that file and be quicker as the model is smaller are without all the other ref's on.

This is a side comment so ignore if not needed but I can't tell from the picture how it was built.
I also noticed that in your first picture you combined 3d models with BV and Annotations.
For good Practice make sure the Annotated BV's are only references from a DRAWING FILE. If not you will have issues where things don't show and will be partially hidden or totally hidden.

Things referenced together are great however
3d need to stay in 3d
BV's need to be ref into a Drawing (a 2d DRAWING MODEL not a DESIGN MODEL)

  • Marc,

I have tried this also but if I use double left click to select the floor from the floor selector window, the current ACS plane doesn't change. As I am telling you every time and again triple click (double right and a left) works for me.
  • Eric,

Thank you so much for your suggestions and I always happy to hear from someone so experienced on the subject.
But I would like to tell you that I am aware of this tips and tricks of AECOsim Building Designer. Although I have switched to ABD very recently but I was using Microstation from years. The pictures I have posted earlier have the 2D drawings in reference only and I always develop my models in parts.
  • "I can't select the floor from floor selector tool bar and can't find no other way of doing it."

I don't believe you can select an entire floor that way.
When you draw an element while a floor is current - it DOES NOT learn that it is part of that floor. It is just another part within that model.
That is the problem I have too as I can "select the floor" in the manager and it does activate the ACS - BUT that is all it does - it does not apply association to parts that are placed while that floor is active. The floor manager is just a ACS manager.

Do to your question above. You cant select the floor from teh floor selector tool but you can select the named acs or active acs byt the name floor1, floor2, etc.

  • Since this does seem to be a system-specific UI/input issue of some kind...

Kaushal and Walter, if you single click on the +/- signs that expand or collapse the Site > Building > Floor structure, do they work as expected, or do you need to use something other than a single left mouse click?
