There is a lot of buzz we created here in India about AECOsim Building Designer. Past one year I was totally engaged in designing the courseware and in the due course I also created some of the dataset files as well according to Indian requirements.

I trained almost 100 participants on AECOsim across India. So, I tested the product on almost all types of systems whether it is desktop, laptops or double monitors etc etc. I myself was totally amazed to see that even on a very low configuration system the product works well. After all this exercise, I can come out of a conclusion that now there is no requirement of supercomputers or hardware accelerators to have your BIM model.

Now regarding floor selector, report is that almost 4 out of 100 faced this same problem. All of the 4 systems are laptops and have only one thing in common that is windows 10 home. On the other hand, in some systems there is lag while selecting the floor.

I don't know how but the solution (double right and a left click) worked for all the 4 systems. I request you to please investigate it further.

I am using windows 10 on HP Pavillion Notebook. The issue is still not resolved i.e., apart from selecting the floor from the Floor Selector window everything works fine.

At this point of time, I have tried AECOsim on 70 different systems and was able to produce the same issue on 3 systems out of 70 having window 10. But I was able to use the same mysterious solution on those systems as well.

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Hi, Steve
Interesting... so for both of you the +/- buttons work in the Floor Selector pop-up, but double-clicking on the floor names themselves does not. And just to reiterate, single-clicking anywhere on the minimized Set Active Floor strip does cause the full Floor Selector dialog to pop up, but that's where the standard double-click simply has no effect when choosing a Floor, regardless of the Building and/or Site selected?

How about Floor Manager itself - if you double-click on a Floor Name or Floor-to-Floor elevation value, are they automatically highlighted for modification?

Lastly, does the Windows Magnifier make any difference? It still seems like a machine/Windows-specific issue of some kind, so I'm just reaching out for every possible clue...

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Hi Steve,

I don't believe you can select an entire floor that way.
When you draw an element while a floor is current - it DOES NOT learn that it is part of that floor. It is just another part within that model.
That is the problem I have too as I can "select the floor" in the manager and it does activate the ACS - BUT that is all it does - it does not apply association to parts that are placed while that floor is active. The floor manager is just a ACS manager.

Do to your question above. You cant select the floor from teh floor selector tool but you can select the named acs or active acs byt the name floor1, floor2, etc.

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Eric,

Thank you so much for your suggestions and I always happy to hear from someone so experienced on the subject.
But I would like to tell you that I am aware of this tips and tricks of AECOsim Building Designer. Although I have switched to ABD very recently but I was using Microstation from years. The pictures I have posted earlier have the 2D drawings in reference only and I always develop my models in parts.

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Marc,

I have tried this also but if I use double left click to select the floor from the floor selector window, the current ACS plane doesn't change. As I am telling you every time and again triple click (double right and a left) works for me.

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Kaushal - I am agreeing with you but also trying to explain what I understand you to say your problem is.
There is no tool in the floor selector to select and entire floor.
The floor you draw is either a part of the overall model or a stand alone model as I had suggested.
You would work on the floor from that "Activated" Model if you want to see everything else (and they should gray out if that option is selected)

This will also help simplify what you are working on in that you can go to just that file and be quicker as the model is smaller are without all the other ref's on.

****************************************************************************************************************************
This is a side comment so ignore if not needed but I can't tell from the picture how it was built.
I also noticed that in your first picture you combined 3d models with BV and Annotations.
For good Practice make sure the Annotated BV's are only references from a DRAWING FILE. If not you will have issues where things don't show and will be partially hidden or totally hidden.

Things referenced together are great however
3d need to stay in 3d
BV's need to be ref into a Drawing (a 2d DRAWING MODEL not a DESIGN MODEL)

RE: AECOsim Floor Selector Problem

Just to be clear, reporting this in the forum is the correct thing to do, it's just that we are unable to reproduce the problem.
