floor manager

I am unclear on what the floor manager is supposed to do

I am told with Revit when MEP services are modelled they can be automatically annotated and dimensioned

Does the floor manager enable automatic labelling of duct/pipe levels and dimensions off grids?

If that is its purpose is there a guide or example avaliable

i have been working on a number of large projects using the Bentley mechanical software and they were all manually dimensioned and had  manually edited level cells

  • I don't mind doing the grids manually it's a rather quick process, using the Floor Manager itself isn't easy as many things are in ABD. Floor constraints don't think that will ever come cause the walls need to be more intelligent then they are now. Bentley keeps banging about parametric in CONNECT but IMHO... I am using ABD I don't want to use MS tools to get something done and assign F&P to it.
It is just another time consuming process as many other things are.
  • I agree.
Creating a grid in a separate dgn and reference it is easy. And you can share it with other disciplines and programs. We always put it in a separate folder with things that are project wide.

And you are free to do whatever strange grids you can think of.

So use the programmers time better.

I don't see any need for a separate tool for this IF you don't do any more than place some geometry.

There is an app from mdlapps.com, 3d-axes, that ad one function to the grids - the index was always shown at View Window border!
And it showed plan in front view.
