Well, I also suspect it is a missing font.
But as I can't open, or reference, the dwg in ss6 I don't see what is causing the problem.
And ss5 just opens the file fine - no message at all !

Did someone say catch 22?

Anyway - I opened in ss5 and deleted all texts - which I currently don't need. So I am ok for the moment.

Text font file I understand. But SHAPE file?

Is it so that dwg text elements wants a 'shape file'? What is .extension for shape files?

This is a bit out of my area, but I think the "shape" files in this instance are AutoCAD fonts, or *.shx files:

import file to dgn - there you will see the fonts and if yo don't care import it back with a replaced standard TT font.

Well - I can open the file in the ss5 installation I happens to still have. And to be specific - it is only in the MicroStation flavor of ss5. The Architecture flavor refuses the same as all versions of ss6.

So I can do all tricks in ss5, like deleting or importing to dgn - but that is a workaround.

The normal thing for BD when it encounters a unknown font or shape file should be to replace it with something generic - right?
Not go to a total freeze!

A SHAPE file has the extension .SHP (and is usually a file from ArcGIS) and even has the .SHX file extension and contains vectors (SHAPES).

Not going to explain how it exactly works.... you may Google it.
