While I don't see any, does the Message Center contain any errors or warning messages?

What you're describing sounds like something we've come across before when there is an issue with VBA affecting placement tools; it just happens to affect round duct or pipe more than other Mechanical components when this type of issue occurs. However, there is always (I believe) something in the Message Center.
