Flat Inline Damper, Three-Way Component Mix-Up, Ss6

You've got "Shape" selected in the Tool Settings palette. That means the damper will change on the fly without having to switch rect-round-oval in the Tasks menu.
Try it again, but before you place the first one, fly over each of the duct shapes, back and forth.
Then please compare behavior to Ss5.

Ah... gotcha. I see that Flat Oval seems to consistently auto-match regardless of which shape is initially selected, while Round changes the component altogether and rectangular changes the orientation.

Do you mind logging an SR for this and replying back with that number?

The functionality that you have requested to be restored in SS6, has always been there.
In your screen shot you are showing in the round duct example, there is a rectangular blade damper, not a flat inline damper, and in the rectangular ductwork, the damper is correct, but the placement is incorrect.
You have to choose the proper tool for the proper duct configuration, the program will know what to place predicated on which tool is called on.

No. There is a malfunction in Ss6 with the Flat In-Line Damper when flying-over the different duct shapes with regard to the "Shape" option in the Tool Settings palette.
But we have already identified that in the posts above. I just haven't had the time yet to file the SR.

Here is the 3-D model of a round -Flat Inline damper from the program that I was able to place. As you can see the damper does place in the program, but if this is not an example of what you are seeing, please send along a AVI or a screen capture of the issue.
