Dashed line styles do not show up in Dynamic views in BA V8i

Wall Forms that have a line style of anything but line style 0 (dashed for example) do not show as the correct line style in a Dynamic view, it appears that forms can only show as a line style 0 in a Dynamic View. Is this because it is a hiddenline render mode? This is true for both the model elements and for parts of the form that have been defined in the datagroup/part/family like centerlines. Many of the walls have a line style of 3 for the centerline, but when you check to show centerline in a Dynamic View it shows them as line style 0. This makes Dynamic Views inaccurate per those that might be created in Drawing Manager. Are we doing something incorrect? Thanks Brian Thomas Selser Schaefer Architects
  • I have used some custom linestyles as centerlines (defined in the parts). This works in Dynamic Views. Perhaps check that the linestyle is present (you can draw with it), and if it is, maybe you have an linestyle override set in your view style (in view attributes, clip volume settings).

  • Under View Attributes the Clip Volume Settings are as follows for the Dynamic View Floor Plan: Forward: Forward - Drawing Cut: Cut - Drawing The display of the built-in lines styles and fills is incorrect in the dynamic view (they look like style 0). If I change the Clip Volume Settings of 'Cut:' to 'From View' the built-in line styles display correct, and if I change under the 'Display Styles' the "Forward - Drawing" Display style from "display - Hidden Line" to "display - Wireframe" the centerline (built-in linestyle) and cut fill display correctly, but everything else looks like a wireframe from the top/isometric view. Should not the default "Cut- Drawing" work the same as the 'From View'? It appears the issue is the "built-in" line styles of 2 through 7 when applied to a form/solid or as part of the part assignment do not display correctly (should be the same as a line or shape located in the same file/view) in either model or a DV views as well as "cut fill" from the part/family Custom linestyle appear to work correctly, but that is not what the delivered part library uses. Plus we rely on the the fact that we can define the built-in when printing. Suggestions (besides using Custom linestyles (like ACAD) for these line styles)?

  • Brian,  Thank you for the further detailed explanation. I now realize that this is very likely covered by the same response as was given before by Bentley development regarding DV weights and linestyles. http://communities.bentley.com/Products/MicroStation/MicroStation_V8i/MicroStation_V8i_Printing/f/19568/t/12769.aspx

I will send a link to this thread to development so we can track it against the Q1 Architecture release that is expected to resolve this issue.

Those attributes that are dormant in V8i Dynamic Views should become activated / visible once you are able to open those views in the Q1 2009 release.

  • Rob, Thanks. Sounds like the same issue. Do I need to send to support as well? Brian Thomas Selser Schaefer Architects

  • Brian, If you don't mind, yes, please do submit this as a help request.

You might refer support to this thread which should save you the time of explaining it again!
