Add 2D Structural Section profile from xml-files (STRUCTURAL_SHAPES)

I just responded to your SR. Steel.ma can be downloaded here. Installation instructions are in the Steel wiki article. This is freeware that has not been updated for some time so section size tables may not be complete or fully up to date.

You do need to be signed in to Communities to be able to download.

Thanks for your reply Marc, but maybe I wasn’t clear of what I was asking for.

We are NOT interested using the old steel.ma because it’s using a different database from what we are using in our 3D-world, which brings us double work to maintain. Also Steel.ma only support 7 different types of profiles. Structural_Shapes supports 34 types.

The question is, as the heading of this topic: How to place a 2D Structural Section profile from xml-files (STRUCTURAL_SHAPES)?

OK I understand. We don't have a 2D tool that can use the data in the structural shapes xml. ABD's tools and data are designed for a 3D modelling workflow.

Oh, what a pity.
Sometimes 2D-symbols would just save the day.
