I'm getting the following error message every time I open AECOsim SS6 in Archtectural mode
"Microsoft Visual Basic
Run-time error "453":
Can't find DLL entry point GetLocaleInfoA in kernel32"
Does anyone know what this means, and how to fix it ?
Regards
Michael.

I have all the latest Windows updates installed.
This error only comes up in Architectural mode. It doesn't show up when I use AECOsim in Microstation mode.
When I select the "debug" button this pops up and AECOsim crashes
I have also included the exception log file, if that helps

Micky,
Since this isn't happening with your home PC, can you reply back with the OS and Office build numbers of both machines, along with the .NET versions?
Steve
Both my home and work computers run Windows 10 Pro with the latest updates, so the .NET versions will be the same.
At work we use Office 2007, and at home I don't use Office.
When I initially had this problem 9 months ago, I somehow managed to fix it.. But for the life of me, I can't remember what I did.
I don't kow if it has anything to do with the fact that a Windows 10 update changed some settings. That now, when i check for updates, it shows the following message *Some settings are managed by your organization, and I have to do a manual search for updates.
OK, now that is interesting... Your home machine runs V8i just fine even though you don't have Office installed, which is a prerequisite for all versions of ABD. Your office machine does have Office 2007, and while ABD V8i was tested with that version ABD CONNECT Edition supports Office 2013 or newer. IOW, you are essentially seeing what should be the opposite behavior!
That last line regarding updates almost reads as though you have limited permissions. Did you have Windows UAC disable (Never Notify) when installing ABD?
Yes, I have Windows UAC disabled. That's one of the first things I do when setting up a computer.
I suspect it's something to do with permissions. Somewhere along the line, a Windows Update may have changed my permissions and screwed up my system.
Michael,
Would you please try this again...

I tried the "Run as Administrator" a few times, without success.
I tried it today on another computer that I just installed AECOsim on yesterday. Same result.
Nothing seems to work.

I know you said that both your home and office machines have the same build of Windows 10, and earlier you confirmed that you have 4.5.1. But can you verify all versions of .NET installed (and enabled) on both machines? While Windows itself may include the same version, other software installed may have changed that. Plus, Ss6 also requires .NET 3.5.
Since it seems that other machines at your office (not just yours with your login?) experience the same issue, there must be some common factor with the Windows install image being used. Or possible the Windows User Profile...
This is what I can find about .NET on my work computer.
I have 4.5 installed, but it's not showing up here.
I'll check what my home computer has and compare.
And this is how my home computer, which works, is setup.
And selecting the same settings still works.
