Aecosim

Hi there,

I am new to the bentley products, learning Aecosim from the learnserver from past 3 months.

i am still not sure about the usage of "user" "project" "interface".

coming 9 years of experience in Revit, my little peanut brain finds it hard to digest the simplicity of Bentley product.

please help.

  • In most situations user and interface do not need to change, both of these are removed from our CONNECT Edition products.

Each project that you work on requires a project to be created to store the design data and project specific resources separately from other projects. In AECOsim one of the critical project specific resources is the Floor Manager DGNLIB, BB_FloorMaster.dgnlib.

Please take a look at ABD SS6 - QuickConfig which provides an example of configuring AECOsim and creating projects.

    Regards

  • Hi Marc,

Thanks for the reply, when i run the follow your instruction to create project based on quickconfig, i get this error when i run Aecosim designer, but i can see the physical folder at two drives but unable to sink it with the ABD.

    Appreciate if you help.

  • Hi Venkatesh,
If you navigate to that folder and open the file in Notepad, what is line 44? The error is stating that something in that line is preventing the load process from continuing. The most likely cause based on the wording is that it's trying to load another configuration file that it cannot find.

  • Hi Venkatesh,

I hope you were able to resolve this question. Please can I suggest that you download Bentley Configuration Explorer, it is a useful troubleshooting tool that allows you to dig into the configuration and see various things; the sequence of files executed; details of individual variables and where they have been set/modified and their parent/child depndencies.

Bentley Configuration Explorer (BCE) can be downloaded from the Bentley iWare site, once downloaded:

    • Run the installer accepting all of the default options.
    • It will scan for any installed Bentley applications.
    • Start BCE, the Process Configuration dialog will appear.
    • In this pick AECOsim Building Designer SS6, a user and project, then click Process.

If you have trouble with similar errors, please run BCE and once the processing is complete, click the Save icon at the top left, save the file in the .bcf format as prompted and e-mail it back to us. That can often help us to direct you to a solution.
