Hi
Display rules are awesome!!! - No comments
One question about them... Which property is the rigth one to use in order to create a z-depth effect in the elevations and section drawing models?
Z-depth property of the saved views in these cases is always set to 0. Is there anyone we can use?
In the geometry tab inside the properties of every saved view we have "Front Depth" property. Is it suitable?
I attach here the link we opened about this subject in ABD SS6

Lots of thanks
Any notice about this?
Lot's of thanks

Borja/Steve,
I was looking at thematic maps and display rules to achieve depth cueing/fading in elevations/sections.
Currently it is not possible I don't think, because the only options available for controlling thermatic maps are based on X,Y,Z planes
To create a true fading elevation, I need to be able to set depth relative to camera.
I will file an SR on top of this also.
Hi Duncan,
Yes, in the case of DVs, I believe it's the distance from the Cut Plane that would trigger depth cuing symbology changes and not necessarily absolute coordinates.
As mentioned above, a quick hack would be to enhance the Thematic Display height axis options to include say 'View' or 'Camera'.
It would be good to integrate this option into the BV/DV/CVE tools. Also, downstream processes like printing and dwg export.
I can see this being very useful for views / prints with large complex backgrounds.
Production: It would be good to have the option to have the Cut plane elements remain in vector-format while everything else in Forward(?) / Outside in raster. The vector info would 'overprint' the raster info.
It also paves the way for back-refencing or Hyperlinking the rasterised information in the 3d model, which should be a lot quicker/scalable with today's GPU's? At the moment, back-referencing a plan cut in the 3d model does not re-use the vector graphics previously generated for the CVE. Being able to display Hyperlinked plans (rasterised) of the other storeys or sections would also be great.
Hi you all
I'm sorry to say this, but nowadays the most of elevations and sections we build in ABD are not very useful. I mean no one can understand if the door or wall you are looking at is in front of you or 50meters away.
We think a depth cueing/fading system is necessary. Is it not possible somethig like this?

ArchiCAD also has this functionality.
