We are implementing AECOSimBD and about to deploy it. I am having an issue with getting my (2) applications windows to stay on separate monitors. No matter what .ucf. upf, .pcf, .dgnlib I use or recreate they both want to open on monitor #1. Does anyone have an experience with this? When I add and dock toolboxes on both windows the settings stay which leads me to believe its some sort of Bentley / Windows 10 issue. My Microstation SS4 runs flawlessly on this same machine.
I am using AECOSimBD 08.11.09.866 on Windows 10 on a Lenovo P70 laptop, I'm in Northern Michigan and current outdoor temp is 83F and we are a few days from full moon. I have an rightside up horseshoe on top of one monitor and a rabbits foot on the other........doesn't seem to make a difference if I switch them.
Hi Linus,
I'm not aware of any consistent issue with two application windows in AECOsim. I run .866 on two monitors with Win 10.
Please can you tell us more about the hardware? For instance, are you using the P70 with another monitor or two monitors with the p70 docked and lid closed. Is the P70 screen hi-res (4K)?
Regards
Marc
Marc, Yes have the P70 (4k) model which I run open as my second monitor. Monitor #1 is a Lenovo Thinkvision L220x wide and Monitor #3 is a Lenovo Thinkvision LT2252p. I run my primary Microstation window on monitor #1 and my secondary window on monitor #3. My laptop I use for my browser and other misc office and communication software.
So in your scenario you open one window on monitor #1 and the second window on monitor #2 and they open like that for you every session?
Yes I don't use my laptop monitor at the moment, however I'll try it out with all three and see if I can reproduce your scenario. I wondered if the 4k monitor on the laptop might be affecting things, but as you are using ABD on the two external monitors that may not be relevant.
Everything in ABD (AFAIK) concerned with multiple application windows is provided by the same mechanisms as MicroStation so it is odd that the two behave differently.
Thanks Marc, appreciate any clues you can offer.
Marc,
Upon some further investigation here at my end, if I close my laptop monitor and only run 2 the windows open and behave as they should. That's disappointing. Later I will try it in Connect edition since they supposedly support up to 4 displays. I will be curious to know if you can replicate the issue by enabling your third display.
Anyway, it is good to find the cause. Most of our users only run 2 displays so they should be good. I will have to determine if 3 displays is worth moving the window every time I open ustation or try to find a further solution.
