Hi all,
I currently have Revit 2015 and 2017 on my computer. I would like to bring a Revit 2015 model over to AECOsim using i-model. However, when I install i-model, the plugin is only available on the Revit 2017. Does this mean I will have to uninstall Revit 2017 in order for the installer to be "forced" to work on 2015? Thanks!
Regards,
Karlo
Hi Karlo,
To take your Revit model to AECOsim you want to use ISM (Integrated Structural Modeling) and not i-model. The latest release is compatible with Revit 2017 but no longer supports 2015. Here is a link to the ISM wiki page.
Integrated Structural Modeling
For Revit you need to install both the ISM Revit Plugin and Structural Synchronizer. The Revit plugin adds the ISM commands to a Bentley tab on your Revit menu. Structural Synchronizer makes the whole thing work. There are download links for both apps on the wiki page. Please let me know if you need any additional assistance.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the clarification. Would like to ask what the difference between i-model and ISM is? Not very familiar with these 2 plugins. They both seem to be able to bring in Revit models into AECOsim with the model information in tact, so I am not very sure of what the difference is.
Additionally, is it possible to find a link for the installer for i-model 2015?
Thanks.
I think that ISM only converts the structural elements last me i looked. if this is still the case then you need to export to IFC from revit.
Teigha Bim API coming soon to Aecosim?
The i-model is generally sent to colleagues or clients that need to review the model and not actually work on the model. ISM is used to import the model into another application so that it can worked on in that application.
