Hello,
I'm just about to model quit a large exisiting drainage network.
Can anyone point me to any resources that will help me with workflow, tool choice and tool use ?
Thank you
Which product and version do you have installed?
Hi Robert
AECOsim v8i SS6 08.11.09.866.
I just wanted to place some pipes by two points (invert levels)
I need to set the inner and outer diameters.
It is just a simple model at the moment.
I'm using "place pipe"
In the "dataground instance data" box I can change the outer diameter in pipe parameters but not the inner diameter.
Are there no step-by-step guides to this ? It should be so simple.
I should say I am working completely alone with no support and no other input.
I am not comfortable with modifying the dataset today as we are rushing to make a deadline.
Bentley tantalise me with tools and utilities which I find impossible to use when I start to look at them.
Step-by-step quick startup examples is what I need. I've even looked on You Tube.
As usual, typing "place pipe" into online help is a complete waste of time.
Thanks.
PS There is something called Diameter 1 but it seems to be locked to the same value as outer diameter.
Fraser,
The "generic" non-catalog based components have always been drawn on-the-fly rather than from a database, so they have no concept of wall thickness, just a simple diameter. That's why the OD and D1 dimensions are locked to each other. So in order to place using a schedule based wall thickness the component has to be generated via a catalog. The actual pipe displayed in your model will only have one wall, as it does not show the thickness, mostly because the linework would be very close together normally, but in the DataGroup schedule it will note OD and D1 as different values.
