Just wondering is there Extraction operation available in AECOsim Connect Edtion like previous version. If yes could you show me where it is.
The V8i Drawing Extraction Manager has been superseded by Dynamic View based drawing production. This is discussed in the Drawing Composition section of the help documentation.
Searching for 'Drawing Composition' with Bentley CONNECT Advisor will offer direct links to the relevant learning videos and other resources.

Hi Marc,
Thank you for your confirmation that extraction is no longer available in connect edition.
Hi Marc et al
It's great that DEM has been depreciated / phased out, but how is it possible to upgrade an extraction to a DV in CONNECT? We have a number of files which contain drawing definitions that need to be recreated as DVs to be able to be used in CONNECT, but it seems there is no longer a way to do this.
How can we tell where previous extractions were created, which are missing from the new DV definitions and which still need to be recreated? Do we need a parallel copy of V8i installed to achieve this?
Thanks
Hi Nigel,
As the mechanics of DEM no longer exist in CONNECT you would need to do this in V8i using the tool in the DEM dialog mentioned by Dominic.
That's all well and good, but how do you select whether it is a plan or a section when generating the DV? Or whether to create a Drawing model? That has to be done manually, I'm presuming. In my (albeit limited) tests, they are all "section views" and it doesn't copy the drawing resymbolisation rules through either so the results are next to useless.
Maybe I'm missing something...?
Using Ss6 I just converted two DEM Defs to Saved Views- the one in a plan orientation (and with "plan" in the name) was converted to a Plan DV, and likewise for the one in a Section orientation. I won't pretend to remember the underlying logic since I haven't used this tool in a few years, but at first glance it seemed to provide the expected results. One of my DEM defs also included a Structural drawing rule and that did make it across as well.
From there, keep in mind that the tool was only designed to generate Saved Views, so makes no attempt to generate corresponding Drawing or Sheet Models.
