Using AECOsim v8i ss6, I have mesh curved (faceted) surfaces originally imported from ACAD file, which are now cells with data assigned.
When I export to ifc using optimum setting the smooth curved elements export with crude results.
Does anyone know if there is a way to improve facet quality?
Thanks in advance
Can you please share a screenshot of your object and the result that you are getting in IFC?

Hi Stephen,
Do you get better results if you export to IFC 4? SS6 has our initial technology preview of IFC 4 export that offers better support for faceted geometry. CONNECT Edition contains more recent implementations of IFC 4 (we are still working towards certification for IFC 4 in CONNECT Edition).
To test this I would recommend referencing your SS6 model into a new CONNECT Edition file, don't open it in CONNECT. (Migration forward to CONNECT Edition needs to be carried out in a planned manner.)

Hi Mark
Thanks for your suggestion, I will need to look into the IFC 4 option.

I have the same problem. Also using AECOsim BD v8i ss6. IFC2x3 and IFC4 give the same result. Slight improvement on the surface elements but the extruded solids do not change regardless of the facet tolerance selected. Besides breaking the items up into smaller components, is there another way to improve the appearance of the curved elements?
