Hi there, I'm trying to Detach instance data on a beam created from a solid, using the Detach tool but it deletes Family and Part info but doesn't delete Datagroup name and catalog. I can see it in the Building Element Info dialog.
Process: I first created the solid (curved "beam"), then I used Attach tool convert it into a catalog beam with Datagroup info, and when I want to modify datagroup data I cannot do it because "the element already has instance data".
1.- How can I delete ALL instance data from an element created this way?
2.- How can I apply Datagroup data from an element to my "USER" element?. Using Schedules only works with APP elements, not with USER elements.
Thank you
Hi Sergi,
Please check the solution described in this wiki post: https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/35909/remove-instance-data
Regards
Hi Eduardo, I forgot to tell that the solid was created using Extrude Along tool (extruded a block along a line).
I noticed that Detach tool works on solids created as primitives (slab, cylinder, sphere, etc.) but when you modify the solid or the solid is created from a block and a line and created with Extrude Alog tool, Detach tool detaches only Famuy/Part data, not DG data.
After Detaching the solid created with Extrude Along, when right-click on it, I still can Modify Instance Data (??)

You are right. I've reproduced the issue in my computer.
I am going to ask for filling a Service Request to solve it.
Thanks for raising this.
HI
if you look at the drop tool and switch on "application elements" this will remove the dg data. i dont know if it chnages the geometry in a way that you dont like.
