I am using the latest edition of AECOsim CONNECT Edition, I have used SS4 & SS6. I work in the Civil Engineering, Tunneling & Structural engineer industries, where a variety of sections are used. I used to use the Extraction manager to create section cuts, that has been made obsolete with the CONNECT Edition update. I understand how to create cross sections and longitudinal sections but there doesn't appear to be any capabilities to do developed sections. Would you please be able to point me in a direction of how to create a developed section using the CONNECT Edition. (preferably using dynamic cuts)
Cheers!
Sam Winter.
Can you explain further what you mean by developed sections?
It is a section done along a spline or a curve which is usually the centreline of a structure or object that is curved. This section is straightened out to show a developed view on the structure or object.
please see sketch below:
I don't believe you can create a curved section callout. You can create a step or gap in the section line. I will check further into it and file an enhancement if necessary.
There are enhancements already filed for this functionality. We need to better understand what your expectations are. We get this request a lot and until we explain the “Orange Effect” (See image below) converting elements outside of the direct line of cut plane into a flat section/elevation will result in gaps and overlaps in the information. Therefore, how does the user anticipate we rationalize these gaps and/or overlaps? How would you be presenting this information? If you are looking for just the pure cut section graphics, (which I believe may be possible) is that meeting the requirements and justifications of this request?
Has there been any more development of this? I would like the same, and I would only require the CUT elements, not any kind of FWD view
Thanks
