Hi. I'm very new to Aecosim.
Can steel beams be joined with a mitred join?
I've been unable to find it on the ribbon.
Hi,
A mitred joint can be created between two Structural steel sections.
Go to Modify>Connect Walls>Select ‘Connect Forms as L’. Then select the two beams to convert the joint.

How do you then get them to be one member?
'Join Elements' - does nothing
The Join tool is designed to work with co-linear elements. In the example above the members are at 90 degrees to each other, so that would always result in two separate members. Even if you were to place a Beam using the Select Path option on a single linestring, you would still get two members. Is there a case where a single steel beam would have a 90 degree bend?
Rarely 90 degrees but often 30 - think steel channels as stair stringers continuous through landings (welded mitres)?
Right, so in that case they would still be two separate members, probably welded together (or bolted?) as you mentioned.
